Confidential!!!
Houston
21st Feby 1842
Dear Terrell,
I just write to you because I
always love to say something to my friends.
I have written to Hockley all the news,
and a part of it I think you will
find will come before your alto Genl-
ship. What the law may be on this sub-
ject I am technical enough to determine
the matter, but I can render many very
reasons to my mind, why the mutineers
should be tried and punished in the
country to which they
owe allegiance.
You will feel interest sufficient to
examine the subject, if you have
Books, but of this I doubt! The Subject
is the first within my recollection,
which has occured [sic], in any port of
a foreign Nation.
Tho’ I am with my dear Maggy
