TexShare Benefits Library Patrons Across the State
TexShare is a library program that encourages the sharing of resources between Texas libraries to offer a broader range of services to you, the library customer. It is a program administered by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission.
What Are the TexShare Databases?
How Can I Access Them?
The TexShare Database Program provides a wealth of electronic database resources to over 700 public, academic, and libraries of clinical medicine throughout the state at a significant cost savings. These electronic databases are powerful research tools available 24 hours a day in the homes or offices of registered patrons of participating Texas libraries. They provide full-text articles from journals, newspapers, magazines, and many other sources.
If your library participates in the TexShare Databases program, you'll find a link on their website.
The TexShare Databases are commercially-provided e-resources licensed for the exclusive use of resident patrons to Texas libraries. Among the 60 available databases, you'll find resources for genealogy, academic research, business, health, and hobbies.
Most public library patrons will need to request a TexShare login and password from a reference librarian in order to access these exclusive, licensed research databases. Find your library's website here!
Other libraries, including most college and university libraries, will only require that you key in your library barcode ID for access. Just look for the link at the library website.
What's a TexShare Card?
With a TexShare Card issued from your home library, you can visit other participating libraries across the state and check out physical materials as if you were a local card-holder there.
Use the Find-A-Library page to see if your library participates in the program and to read their TexShare Card Lending Policy.
