Joshua Clark

Hello! I’m Joshua Clark and I’m the Program Planning and Research Specialist in the State & Local Records Management division at TSLAC.

Prior to joining TSLAC, I was in the private sector for many years and worked to increase the efficient use of customer records. Since starting here in 2015, members of the division often ask me to translate legalese into something a layperson can understand. I penned my first blog article three short weeks after joining the team to advise law enforcement on managing body worn camera videos in compliance with the 84th Legislature’s brand new requirements. It hasn’t slowed down since!

Breaking down complex problems into solvable bits and locating answers to the wide range of questions posed by TSLAC’s clients is my favorite part of the job. I’ve also worked on the biennial “Required Report of Reports” since 2016. The diversity of tasks definitely keeps this job interesting.

I’m not a native Texan, but I’ve been in Austin the majority of my life. In the past, I’ve also called Atlanta and Singapore home and lived and worked in London on human trafficking prevention.

I have a B.A. from The University of Texas at Austin and a J.D. from Emory in Atlanta, Georgia.
